Insurance Reimbursement

Insurance Reimbursement

Many clients are surprised to learn that massage therapy may be eligible for reimbursement through certain health insurance plans, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

While I do not bill insurance directly, I provide professional, detailed receipts that allow clients to submit their sessions for reimbursement when their plan permits.

How Insurance Reimbursement Works

Some insurance companies reimburse massage therapy when it is performed by a licensed massage therapist and used for wellness, pain management, or medically related concerns. Coverage varies by plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed; however, many clients successfully receive partial or full reimbursement.

Clients pay for their session at the time of service and then submit the receipt directly to their insurance provider or benefits administrator.

What’s Included on Your Receipt

Upon request, I provide receipts that typically include all information commonly required by insurance companies, FSA plans, and HSA plans, such as:

• Date of service

• Type of service and session duration

• Provider name and business name

• License number

• Tax ID

• Amount paid

This documentation is designed to make the reimbursement process as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Eligible Uses May Include

Massage therapy may qualify for reimbursement when used for purposes such as:

• Pain management

• Chronic muscle tension

• Mobility limitations

• Stress-related symptoms

• Recovery from physical activity or injury

• Doctor-recommended or medically supported care

Because every insurance plan is different, clients are responsible for verifying coverage, reimbursement limits, and required documentation directly with their provider.

Important Notes

• I do not submit insurance claims or communicate directly with insurance companies

• I do not provide superbills or medical billing/diagnosis codes

• Reimbursement approval is determined solely by the insurance provider

• I strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider prior to booking to confirm eligibility

If you have questions about how reimbursement may apply to your sessions or would like a receipt prepared, please feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help guide you through the process.
